Grandmaster Jimmy R. Jagtiani was born and brought-up in Vietnam, received his degree in International School, Saigon in 1972. In March 1974, the final and most brutal phase of the Vietnam War had begun. The fall of Saigon appeared imminent. He has  no alternative left but to pack up and return to his motherland, India and finally settled at Lucknow (UP) and aspired to practice Taekwondo, but here, people were unaware of Taekwondo. There was no training center in the city of Lucknow or elsewhere in India, so he practiced his own techniques and maintained himself. Then the illustrious history of Taekwondo in India begins with its formal induction in 1975 founded by Grandmaster Jimmy R. Jagtiani.   Three years later, he was invited by the World Taekwondo Federation to Korea for higher training of Taekwondo and received 3rd Dan Black Belt from the Kukkiwon, Korea in 1979. Soon this little known Martial Art received massive recognition amid this action amongst the enthusiastic youths. Until this year over 2.50.000 (Two Hundred fifty thousand) enthusiasts had joined the family of Taekwondo all over India.
Under his leadership the Taekwondo Federation of India recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation WTF in 1978, Asian Taekwondo Union ATU in 1982, Indian Olympic Association IOA in 1985,  Government of India in 1988 and the Sport Authority of India SAI in 1996. He was elected Executive Member of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Asian Taekwondo Union (ATU) in 1990 respectively.

  2. WHAT IS TAEKWONDO :>TAEKWONDO IS AN ONLY OLYMPIC SPORTS MARTIL ART >TAEKWONDO IS KOREAN MARTIAL ART >TAEKWONDO IS MOST POPULAR AND ONLY RECOGNIZED MARTIAL ART WORLDWIDE (WHY SCHOOLS MUST TEACH TAEKWONDO INSTEAL OF KARATE) (1) taekwondo got place in school games (SGFAI) (CBSE End central board. Whereas karate is not. (2)taekwondo got place in national games asian games, common wealth end Olympics whereas Karate is not. (3)credentials of taekwondo is recognzed by Ministry of youth affairs delhi end gujarat Governments whereas karate is not (4)credentials are considered for sports quota end governments jobs, whereas karate has not. (5)taekwondois full contact game so students are more confident powerfull and disciplined. (6) in taekwondo curriculum real self-defence is very important so girls can find it more ppactical.
